Dave Walker has been working the solo circuit for the past twelve years, and during this time he has had the opportunity to perform at many venues.
He has built a reputation as being one of the Queensland’s most popular entertainers.
Dave plays both piano and guitar, depending on the venue at which he is performing. This ensures that if he is required to do so, he can play dinner music on the piano at the start of the night, with songs from artists such as Billy Joel, Elton John, Eric Clapton, etc, then light dancing for the older crowd, from artists such as Neil Diamond, Dion, Neil Sedaka, Tammy Wynette, etc. Later in the show, Dave plays either piano or guitar for various numbers from Elvis, Roy Orbison, Alan Jackson, etc, again depending on the style that the patrons would prefer.
Dave is continually updating his repertoire with older and newer songs, so as to ensure that he can play something for everyone. Included in this is music for the rock & rollers, and also the line dancers. If a popular song is asked for that he does not have in his repertoire, he always ensures that he can perform the song the next time he is playing at that venue. Gypsy taps, pride of erins, quick steps, swing waltzes, etc, are also always available on request.
In 2002, Dave produced and recorded the album ‘Taken Time Out’, which received 5 nominations at the 2002 QRA Sunny Awards, culminating in Dave receiving the award for “Best Male Vocal 2002”.
From the same album, the song “Share One Voice” was nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ at the “Tamworth Music Festival”.
In 2003, “Never Been This Close To Heaven” a song from Dave’s new album, “Takin’ Time Out”, was nominated for a gold guitar at the “N.Z. Gold Guitar Awards” in April this year. The album is due for release in January, 2004
Dave was also nominated in the 2003 ‘Clubs Queensland Awards’.
